My Mexico travel diary is forthcoming, but first I wanted to rave about my accommodations in San José del Cabo.

I chanced upon Drift San José on Airbnb.com (though you can also book directly via Drift's website). The Baja ranch-inspired boutique hotel sprang up in defiance of the all-inclusive resorts overtaking Cabo and the rest of Mexico. Located smack dab in the heart of San José del Cabo’s historic downtown arts district, Drift seeks to immerse its guests in the local community and culture, rather than isolate them from it.

What to Wear to a Baby Shower

Last weekend, I did something that made me feel officially grown-up: I attended my first baby shower.

I had a ton of questions beforehand (“Is it inappropriate to wear white, or does that rule only apply to bridal showers?” “Can I wear jeans?” “Do I have to bring a gift there or can I order off the registry? Or am I supposed to do both?!”). It didn’t help that I was one of the youngest people invited (besides the children, they don’t count), and that all the other guests were seasoned baby shower pros. Asking them felt so NOOB.
