Review: Collagen Drinks

I’ve always been dubious about ingesting products that promise better health, weight loss, or perfect skin. But when I did some quick research on drinking collagen, I found that many of my favorite publications (including Allure and Elle) and celebrities (like Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow) all sing its praises.

In case you’re unfamiliar, collagen is a fibrous protein found in our connective tissues that is chock-full of amino acids, providing our skin with structure and elasticity. Unfortunately, our collagen starts to break down as we age, hence why we get wrinkles. To counter this, we humans have traditionally applied collagen topically or via injections (aka skin fillers).

The concept of drinking it on a daily basis, though, began in Asia (where else), and is supposed to result in more lustrous skin and hair. I personally like the idea of beautifying myself from the inside out, so I decided to give it a shot.

I opted for Taut Premium Collagen because it’s popular in Asia, and only recently became available in the USA. The orange flavor is easy to stomach if I follow it up with my morning coffee (although the instructions say to take it before bed, I usually sip it first thing when I wake up).

I’ve been pretty dutiful about drinking it for the past month and a half, and I’m serious when I say I think it’s made my skin appear brighter and more supple. Although I’m still in my late ‘20s and don’t have wrinkles (yet), I do suffer from dry skin – and it’s helped my skin look and feel more nourished.

And good news – it looks like many of their products are currently on sale, including the Taut Collagen Intense Transformation pack that I have.

I also tried one of their collagen sheet masks, but I'm saving my review on that for a future post on sheet masks in general. Stay tuned, everyone! xx
