LOOKING GLASS

LOOKING GLASS

This is less a Healdsburg travel diary and more a post devoted to the gloriousness of the Healdsburg Shed (where admittedly I spent most of my free time).

I was in town for probably the first time in my post 21-year-old life to attend my cousin’s wedding so I didn’t have too much time to explore, but what I saw I loved.

FAVORITE COFFEE SHOP = The Shed
If you couldn’t tell from the photos already, I am obsessed with this place. It's a coffee shop, specialty grocery store and restaurant all in one. The freshly squeezed juices and apple cider were both as fresh as it gets; the cappuccino was very Insta-worthy; and the foie gras we purchased to-go for a picnic outside was beyond creamy and delicious. Next time I'll need to carve out some time to actually dine on the premises.

FAVORITE SANDWICH SHOP = Dry Creek General Store
Adorably nostalgic “general store” with some damn good sandwiches and picnic treats, like deviled eggs, quinoa salad and roasted beet salad with feta and chives. Great stop in between visiting wineries.

FAVORITE WINE TASTINGS = HKG Estate Wines
HKG wins for their great-value gourmet cheese and wine pairing. It’s just $25 for warmly toasted ciabatta bread and a selection of three cheeses (my favorite was the one by Cowgirl Creamery, obviously), each of which is paired with a wine. The reds and whites were okay, but the rosé was deliciously crisp – possibly some of the best I’ve ever tasted! Twomey definitely gets an honorary mention though – the view is gorgeous and their Sauvignon Blanc is spectacular.
