Guide to Temescal Alley
To all you lazy San Franciscans who haven't made it out to Oakland yet: You're seriously missing out. It took me some time as well – approximately two years, in fact – and now I'm tempted to go every other weekend. Temescal Alley is the perfect intro to the East Bay too – very accessible, extra darling and full of good eats, drinks and goodies.
- Cro Cafe – Cozy coffee shop specializing in Sightglass drip coffee and locally-made artisanal pastries. Worth visiting just to admire the stunning built-in copper-finished espresso bar.
- Marisa Mason (formerly known as Marisa Haskell) – A gorgeous Southwestern-inspired space replete with hanging driftwood, fringed leather necklaces, hammered metal cuffs and cacti. The designer behind all the beautiful boho-chic designs can often be found at her workbench behind the counter.
- Crimson Horticultural Rarities – A botanical wonderland of air plants, ferns and other more exotic greens.
- Homestead Apothecary – Your one-stop shop for all-natural cures and home remedies, stocking everything from tea blends that "slay" allergies to dried herbs and tinctures made from local plants.
