WSJ has some great photos from China Fashion Week (Mar 25-31) so far. For those of you unfamiliar with this Beijing event, do not make the mistake of comparing it to the fashion weeks found in Paris, London or New York. The majority of China's most promising designers do not even bother with procuring the funding to show at CFW, with a few exceptions (i.e. Alex Wang, Simon Gao). It's still quite a messy affair, and many of the designs that do get featured are disappointing, to say the least. Nevertheless, there has been increased interest from international publications recently, and no doubt CFW will grow more sophisticated in coming years. Already, this time of year is usually flush with fun store openings and events, to coincide with the arrival of fashion-minded guests in town.

AnyWearStyle has a wonderful review of Alex Wang's (also known as Wang Peiyi) opening show already, which you can read here. For more information, you can check out CFW's press release and schedule on their official English-language website.
